Our Mission & Commission

Our mission as the local church is tied into the Great Commission that the Lord Jesus Christ gave to his church before he ascended to Heaven.   THE GREAT COMMISSION    Matthew 28:16-20 16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.  17 When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and  make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
We aim with God's grace to fulfill the great commission through various evangelistic opportunities.   We also seek to equip Christians through the preaching and teaching of God's word to live out their Christianity in the community through personal witness and acts of kindness and love.

Our Pastor

Mr James Cornford   I have been at the church as Pastor for about two and a half years. This however is not the first time I have been a member at Glanrafon. As a young teenager I used to attend the youth group, it was through the leader's witness that I became a Christian.   For around twenty years I was employed in a family building and undertaking business in Llangollen. Then the Lord called me into full time ministry after some time as a preacher. My family and myself moved down to Suffolk to take up a ministry there which lasted for for seven and a half years. It was after this that the church at Glanrafon felt led to ask me to become their pastor which I did, thus becoming a member again at the church at which I was converted.   My vision for the church is that we constantly seek to be faithful to the word of God. That our witness be effective in winning others for Christ through the Holy Spirit. That each member is enabled to mature through study and loving service of other Christians and those outside the church. That as a church rely on prayer more and more.   If you want to contact me please feel free to do so on my email.   Every blessing   James Cornford

What is an Evangelical?

The title Evangelical is sometimes viewed with suspicion but there is no need to.   Traditional Evangelicalism, of which we count ourselves at Glanrafon, simply holds that the Bible is God's perfect true word to humanity and that as Christians it is our sole authority in matters of faith and practice, that is in what we should believe and how we should live and act as a church and individuals. . As a reflection of this our worship services are centered around the preaching of his word the Bible.     The word Evangelical  is derived from the Greek word, euangelion, meaning “good news” or “gospel,” The good news is that God has sent his one and only Son to this world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15). This salvation is not to do with how good we are but is due totally to God's grace (Ephesians 2:8,9)  As evangelicals we believe in making known the gospel to the world and we try and do this through various ways. This follows the example of the new Testament evangelists, it's teaching and is in obedience to the great commission given by Christ (Matthew 28). As Evangelical Christians we try to speak the truth in love always aware that we are far from perfect and it is only the Holy Spirit that can truly convict and convert.    This is only a very brief outline of what an Evangelical is but I hope it has helped to make plain what we stand for and that we follow in a long line of bible believing churches stretching back to the New Testament. If you would like to know more please get in touch and it would be great to see you at our services to experience for yourself what we stand for.
